SPEAK TECH - BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN DIRECTORS AND TECHNICIANS

In-person | Hands on | Held in a real theatre | For Directors and creatives | No experience required

Technical rehearsals can be difficult, frustrating and tiring. But most tech issues aren't technical problems; they’re communication problems.

Two groups caring deeply about the same show, talking past each other because nobody has given them a shared language to work from. Speak Tech is a half-day, hands-on workshop designed to bridge that gap.

With a decade of theatre experience, Billie-Jo Rainbird aims to give theatre directors and makers a better understanding of the technical spaces they work in, the vocabulary to describe what they want, and the confidence to have better conversations with their technical team.

Held in a real theatre venue, with a real lighting rig and sound system. The session is practical, welcoming, and built around the idea that when directors and technicians understand each other, everyone's work gets better.

Rigging, focusing and programming are not covered in this session.
